Ok, we'll when you first get your braces on they hurt a bit. My orthodontist suggested I eat only soft foods the first day I got them, but if you take a couple of Advil it really helps the pain. It's kind of an annoying kind of pain, but nothing like " OH MY GOSH I RATHER DIE."
It's just annoying, and it is a bit difficult to eat crunchy/harder kinds of foods on the first day or first couple of days, because the teeth are getting used to the braces.

The only other time they would hurt a bit is when you get your braces tightened ( you get a slightly smaller wire for your braces so they can push your teeth back more) but I don't think it's as bad as the first day. Just take a couple of Advil and that should do the trick.

Don't worry! I just got mine on two days ago. It does not hurt to get them on, but it will be sore for the next few days. You will experience some trouble eating, as well. Let me walk you through the process:

I was closing my eyes, so I will tell you what I felt. So I sat down with my earbuds in (listening to Les Miserables) They looked at my mouth, and tried to fit my bands at the back of my mouth. All they do is push them in until they click. Then they put this sandy/gritty stuff on your teeth. They then put the glue on. DO NOT PUT YOUR TOUNGE IN FRONT!!! THE GLUE TASTES DISGUSTING!!! Anyways, they glue the brackets on and they weave in the wire. It is not that bad. Trust me. It will be sore and tight, but you will be fine! Just take some Advil or Tylenol or something. It helps relive the pain.

P.S. Listening to music seriously helps you relax. :)
Good Luck! :D

YES. they don't hurt while you're getting them fitted but later on it hurts a lot. it usually lasts a few days every time you get them tightened. start thinking about soft things you can eat for those few days so you don't starve.
